I have been thinking a lot about my life as a latter-day Saint (mormon) woman and about my role as a wife, mother, friend, sister, missionary (my calling is as a ward missionary) etc. I am 28, I have two lovely children, an adorable and adoring husband, and I have the security in knowing that Jesus Christ lives and that I am on His side. My life is full of potential, I am happy, healthy and so excited to see what the next 50 years bring. But this isn't just because I am a generally cheerful person- which I hope I would be without the gospel in my life, but this attitude is directly connected to my faith, to the church I attend, to the testimony that I have of the Savior and of our Heavenly Father's love for each person. And everything that I have just written is even more special because of the way Ben and I can share our faith, discuss and ponder together, we challenge each other to grow and to question the way we live, asking is this the best? is there better? All the time striving to make Christ the foundation of our family and of our life. This we teach our children together. It is my favorite. I just finished reading Elder Cook's talk from Gen. Conf. here are a couple of inspiring things he said:
"The message, ministry, and Atonement of
Jesus Christ, our Savior, are our essential family curriculum. No scripture characterizes our faith better than
2 Nephi 25:26: “And we talk of
Christ, we rejoice in Christ, we
preach
of Christ, we prophesy of Christ, and we write according to our
prophecies, that our children may know to what source they may look for a
remission of their sins.”
Our doctrine is clear; we are to be positive and of good cheer. We
emphasize our faith, not our fears. We rejoice in the Lord’s assurance
that He will stand by us and give us guidance and direction.
26
The Holy Ghost testifies to our hearts that we have a loving Father in
Heaven, whose merciful plan for our redemption will be fulfilled in
every aspect because of the atoning sacrifice of Jesus Christ."
Elder Quentin L. Cook Of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles
General Conference April 2012
